Grand Rapids Sex Toy Store

Are you someone that is interested in adding lube to their sexual lifestyle? Many sexually active individuals enjoy incorporating lubricant to help get those most amount of pleasure out of their sexual experiences.

However, many others are unsure what would be the best type of lubricant for them. The lube experts at Nice & Naughty have put together a convenient guide to choosing the right lubricant for your sexual experiences. There are four major types of lube:

Water-based Lubrication

The first ingredient in any water-based lubricant is water or aloe. Any water-based lubricant will be safe for toy play and intercourse. It washes off the body quickly and usually absorbed right into the skin like a moisturizer. Most water-based lube can be reactivated by adding water but usually needs to be reapplied once absorbed into the skin.

Silicone Lubrication

Silicone lubricants will not absorb into your skin. This means that they are never sticky and create a long lasting “glide” effect. We recommend using silicone lube with water-play (because it won’t wash off unless you use soap) or “back-door” fun (because it keeps going and going and going). A lot of silicone lube brands can be used for body massage, as well. Our lube specialists warn against using silicone lube with silicone toys because they will break down the material of your toys. Silicone and silicone have a tendency to fuse together.

Hybrid Lubrication

A mixture of water-based and silicone ingredients and usually a creamier consistency, or what we call a hybrid lube. These will absorb to your skin like water-based but last longer like silicone. Most of these types of lube brands will have the word “Silk” included in the name because it gives off a silky feeling when absorbed to the skin. A few hybrid lube brands are compatible with silicone toys, but ask an Intimacy Adviser before purchasing both together.

Flavored Lubrication

Flavored lubricants are water-based and usually sugar based. Our intimacy experts recommend not using them internally, especially if you are normally sensitive. There are a few all-natural brands that are safe. Flavored lube is a fun way to keep the mouth lubricated during oral. They come in a wide variety of flavors, warming and cooling, and subtle to strong flavor.

All categories offer natural/organic versions, glycerin-free, paraben-free and also come with carrageenan and coconut oil! Want a lube that tingles, warms, or cools? Most brands have options in all enhancement styles!
